Assistant Professor of Anthropology and of Social Studies (Russian Studies) School Faculty of Arts and Sciences Department/Area Anthropology and Social Studies Position Description
https://academicpositions.harvard.edu/postings/3698 The Department of Anthropology and the Committee on Degrees in Social Studies invite applications for a tenure-track appointment at the level of Assistant Professor in the field of Social Anthropology, with a specialization on Russian society and culture. Applications will be considered from scholars whose research is firmly grounded in ethnographic fieldwork, with excellent Russian language abilities, and research based in Russia and/or the former Soviet republics. Candidates are expected to demonstrate a promise of excellence both in research and teaching. We are seeking a scholar whose work is on cutting-edge areas of significance to the discipline of social anthropology and who will make a sustained contribution to Harvardā€™s program in Russian studies and/or its Central Asian and Caucasus program. Theoretical orientation, area focus/foci of field research, and areas of thematic and topical interest are open. We are looking for candidates whose interests are complementary to those of the current faculty. Instruction will include courses in the Department of Anthropology, both at the undergraduate and at the graduate levels, and in the Committee on Degrees in Social Studies at the undergraduate level. The appointment is expected to begin in the Fall term, 2012. A strong doctoral record is required; ideally, candidates should complete all requirements for the Ph.D. by July 1, 2012.
